Clients: How to request a Data Processing Agreement (DPA)

A Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is available to every client on request. This guide walks you through Debitura's self-service DPA wizard, where you can generate, review, and digitally sign your DPA online.

Goal

Complete and sign a Data Processing Agreement with Debitura using the built-in DPA wizard. The process takes five steps and can be completed entirely online.

Before you begin

  • You must have an Admin role on your Debitura account. Only admin users can access the DPA wizard and sign legally binding agreements.

  • Have your company details ready: company name, registered address, city and country (postal code is optional). The wizard also has an optional Registration number field - you do not need one to complete the DPA, including in the EU.

Steps

Step 1: Review your company data

The wizard displays your company information, pre-filled from your account. Review each field and edit if needed. Once you confirm, this information is captured as an immutable snapshot and will appear on your signed DPA exactly as shown.

Required fields: company name, registered address, city, and country. Registration number and postal code are optional. Your contact person and contact email are shown here as read-only values taken from your account - if either is wrong, correct it in Settings before you sign.

You can review your company data under the "general settings" here: https://app.debitura.com/Settings

Step 2: Review the DPA and attest your authority

The wizard displays a preview of the merged DPA document with your company details filled in. Read through the agreement, then check the box confirming you have authority to bind your company to this agreement.

You find the DPA wizard under account settings -> GDPR here: https://app.debitura.com/DpaWizard

Step 3: Sign the DPA

Draw your digital signature on the signature pad. Your signer name and email are shown next to it, taken automatically from your account - there is nothing to type in, and they cannot be edited here. When you click Sign agreement, the system generates a signed PDF, uploads it securely, and sends you a confirmation email with the signed PDF attached.

Step 4: Update your privacy policy

After signing, the wizard provides a privacy policy snippet for your website. Under GDPR Article 13, you must inform your customers that Debitura processes personal data on your behalf. Copy the provided text, add it to your website's privacy policy, and confirm you have done so by checking the box.

Step 5: Confirmation

The final step confirms your DPA is complete. You can download your signed PDF from this page at any time.

Result

After completing all five steps, your signed DPA is stored securely. You will receive a confirmation email with the signed PDF attached. Your DPA status is tracked in your account, and you can download the signed document at any time.

Edge cases

  • Need to correct company data after signing? You can delete your current DPA and restart the wizard. The previous DPA is kept for audit purposes, and a new one is created from scratch.

  • DPA template updated by Debitura? If Debitura updates the DPA template, you can delete and restart to sign the latest version.

  • Not an admin user? Ask your company's account administrator to complete the DPA wizard. Only users with the Admin role can sign.
