Collection Partners: How to submit a custom quote

When a case does not fit the standard pre-legal pricing, you can submit a custom quote with your own terms. This guide explains when custom quotes apply, how to submit one through the partner portal, and what happens after the client reviews your quote.

Goal

Submit a custom quote for a case that requires non-standard pricing (such as a disputed debt, non-standard claim type, or complex situation) and understand the outcome once the client responds.

When custom quotes apply

Standard pricing from the Standard Debt Collection Agreement (SDCA) applies when a case meets both of these conditions:

  • Claim type is Unpaid Invoice or Loan Repayment

  • Dispute status is Not Disputed or Unknown

If a case does not meet these criteria, you may provide a custom quote instead of accepting it at the standard rate. Examples include disputed claims, breach of contract, property damage, or other non-standard claim types. For more detail on when custom quotes replace standard terms, see Custom Quotes.

How you access the custom quote flow

The way you submit a custom quote depends on your partner type.

Exclusive partners

If you are an exclusive partner, the case is already assigned to you. Follow these steps:

Step 1: Open the case

The case appears in your Cases Received list. You also receive a VerifyNewCase task on your Task dashboard. Open the case from either location. For more on the case verification workflow, see How to review and approve a new case.

Step 2: Choose "Offer Custom Terms"

On the case verification page, review the case details. If the case does not fit the standard pre-legal requirements, choose "Offer Custom Terms" instead of accepting the case at the standard rate. The system creates an exclusive lead and redirects you to the Lead page.

Step 3: Complete the quote form

Fill in the required quote information:

You can also use the chat thread to ask the client clarifying questions before finalizing your quote. A chat thread is created automatically when you begin the quote process.

Step 4: Submit the quote

Review your entries and submit the quote. Once submitted, the client will be notified and can review your proposal.

📋 Non-Exclusive Partners

If you are a legal network partner (non-exclusive), you do not receive auto-assigned cases and you cannot use standard SDCA pricing. Instead, you receive a ProvideQuoteForLead task on your Task dashboard when a matching lead is available. Click the task to go directly to the Lead page and submit your custom quote. The case does not appear in your Cases Received list unless you win the quote. Follow Step 3 and Step 4 above to complete and submit your quote.

What happens next

After quotes are collected, the client receives reminders to make a selection: the first reminder is sent after 10 days, and a second reminder 7 days later. The client may also receive quotes from other partners if the case is a network lead.

If the client accepts your quote:

  • Your quote status changes to Accepted

  • The case is assigned to you and moves to Active status

  • You can begin working on the case immediately under the agreed custom terms

If the client declines your quote or selects another partner:

  • Your quote status changes to Declined

  • You will be notified that your quote was not selected

If the client does not respond:

  • The lead expires after the collection window closes

  • Quotes are not automatically declined; the client may still manually select a winner if needed

Edge cases

  • Multiple leads per invoice: An invoice can have multiple lead rounds. If the first round closes without an acceptable quote, the system may create a second lead for a new round of quotes.

  • SDCA signing: You can submit quotes without having signed the SDCA. However, you must sign the SDCA before creating new cases on the platform yourself.
