Clients: What happens when no local partner is available in a country

When you create a case for a jurisdiction where Debitura does not have a local pre-legal collection partner, the platform offers an alternative path: competitive quotes from vetted lawyers and collection agencies in the legal network.

Updated over a week ago

What it is

Debitura provides debt collection coverage across many countries, but complete worldwide coverage is not possible. A coverage gap means that no pre-legal collection partner is available for a particular jurisdiction under the standard No Cure, No Pay pricing model.

Coverage gaps occur for two main reasons:

  • No partner operates in that jurisdiction - Debitura has not yet onboarded a collection partner covering the debtor's location.

  • No partner matches the case requirements - Partners exist in the jurisdiction but have specific requirements (such as minimum claim amounts, business type restrictions, or industry limitations) that the case does not meet.

For a full list of supported countries and jurisdictions, see Countries, jurisdictions, and coverage.

Why it matters

Without a local pre-legal partner, a case cannot follow the standard collection process with No Cure, No Pay pricing. However, Debitura does not block you from proceeding. Instead, the platform connects you with its legal network so you can still pursue the debt through an alternative pricing arrangement.

How it works

What you see during case creation

When you create a new case and the system detects that no local pre-legal partner is available, you see a message explaining that standard No Cure, No Pay rates do not apply for this jurisdiction. The message offers competitive quotes from the legal network instead.

At this point, you have two options:

  • Submit the case - The case is sent to the legal network, and matching partners are invited to provide custom quotes.

  • Cancel - You can choose not to proceed if the alternative pricing path does not suit your needs.

How the quote process works

If you choose to submit the case, Debitura shares it with up to 3 vetted local lawyers and collection agencies from the legal network. Each partner can submit a competitive quote with their proposed pricing and approach.

Here is how the process unfolds:

  1. Your case is shared with matching partners in the legal network.

  2. Partners review the case and submit custom quotes with their proposed terms (such as hourly rates, flat fees, success fees, or a combination).

  3. Once quotes are collected, you receive a notification to review them.

  4. You compare the quotes and select the one that best fits your needs.

  5. The winning partner is assigned to your case and can begin working on it immediately.

Quotes are collected over a defined window. If you do not select a winner within that period, you receive reminders. For more about how custom quotes work, see Custom quotes: when standard terms do not apply.

What to expect

  • Pricing differs from standard cases. Since no pre-legal partner is available at standard No Cure, No Pay rates, the quotes you receive use alternative pricing models (hourly rate, flat fee, success fee, or a hybrid). You choose the option that works best for you.

  • You are not obligated to proceed. If none of the quotes are acceptable, you can decline them all. The case is closed without cost to you.

  • Coverage improves over time. Debitura actively tracks which jurisdictions have coverage gaps and uses this data to prioritize onboarding new partners. A gap today does not mean a gap tomorrow.
