Clients: Legal quote flow - compare quotes and select a winner

When your case has no assigned collection partner, Debitura shares it with vetted local attorneys and collection agencies who submit competing quotes for you to compare.

Which situation is this? This article covers the case where your case has no assigned collection partner and several partners compete for it, so you compare quotes and pick a winner.

If your case already has a collection partner and that partner sent you a single legal quote, that is a different journey: you approve or decline it in place, there is nothing to compare and no winner to pick, and the case stays with the same partner. See Clients: Your collection partner sent you a legal quote - what to do. If a single assigned partner sent you one quote before work on the case ever started, that is a third situation: you accept or decline it on the lead page, and declining it closes the case.

Goal

Review incoming quotes for legal action on your case, compare pricing and proposed approaches, and select the quote you want to proceed with.

Before you start

  • Your case has entered the quote collection stage (Debitura creates quotes automatically based on case routing)

  • Your case status shows "Collecting Quotes" or "Quotes Received"

Step 1: Open your case

Go to Cases and click on the case you requested quotes for. The case detail page shows a "Quotes" section when quotes are available.

Step 2: Wait for quotes to arrive

Partners have 5 business days to submit quotes, or until the expected number of quotes is received, whichever comes first. You will see messaging such as "We are Collecting Quotes" while this window is open. Debitura typically shares your case with up to 3 vetted local partners.

Step 3: Review each quote

Once quotes arrive, each quote displays the following information:

  • Pricing type: Hourly rate, flat fee, success fee, or a hybrid combination

  • Pricing details: The specific rates or estimates (for example, hourly rate amount, flat fee estimate, or success fee percentage)

  • Proposed solution: The partner's recommended approach for your case

  • Why choose this partner: Background on the partner's qualifications and experience

Step 4: Compare quotes

When comparing multiple quotes, consider:

  • Total cost: Hourly rates may vary in final cost depending on case complexity. Flat fees provide cost certainty. Success fees mean you only pay if money is recovered.

  • Approach fit: Does the proposed solution match your priorities (speed, cost, likelihood of recovery)?

  • Partner expertise: Review each partner's background and experience with similar cases.

For details on how custom pricing works, see Custom Quotes.

Step 5: Select the winning quote

When you have decided, click "Pick selected quote as winner" on the quote you want to proceed with.

Result

After you select a winner:

  • The winning quote is marked as "Accepted"

  • All other quotes are automatically marked as "Declined"

  • Your case is assigned to the winning partner

  • The case moves to "Active" status

  • The partner can immediately begin working on your case under the agreed terms

For more on what the Active status means, see case status definitions.

If no quotes arrive

If all invited partners decline without submitting quotes, you will be notified that no partners were available for this case. In this situation, Debitura may suggest alternative actions such as adjusting the case details or terms. You can also contact support for guidance.

If you do not select a winner

There is no hard deadline for choosing a winner, but reminders are sent - the first about 10 days after quotes are collected, and a second about a week after that. If no winner is chosen, the quotes expire and the lead closes without one. You can still contact support to reopen options if needed.
